Known as the Town of Fine Towers, San Gimignano is a walled medieval hill village in the province of Siena, Tuscany Italy. San Gimignano is a beautiful example of medieval village and can bring us in the past, when Tuscany towns had high towers built by their powerful and rich families.
San Gimignano, today, keeps some of its tower houses, which, with its hilltop setting and encircling walls form “an unforgettable skyline”. The well-preserved buildings include notable examples of both Romanesque and Gothic architecture, with outstanding examples of secular buildings as well as churches.
The “Historic Centre of San Gimignano”, became a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
San Gimignano was born with the Etruscans but grew during the medieval period thanks to the pilgrimages to Rome and the Via Francigena. With the Treasure hunt of San Gimignagno activity we will discover it under a new special light and we will recreate and live the medieval time.
