The Castle of Spedaletto was born along the main old European road: the Via Francigena, near Montalcino, Pienza, San Quirico, Bagno Vignoni.
Many important people such as Carlo D’Angio and the Pope Pio II rested here during their trip to Rome. In fact, the Castle was built by a priest called Ugolino da Rocchione in the 12th century as a fortified farm for pilgrims who went from France and north Italy to Rome.
Nowadays, the Carletti family is the owner of the Castle and the farmhouse. They will host us in their elegant double rooms for a few days in this peaceful and quiet place.
The Castle extends for 40 hectares of vineyards and olive oil trees. You can taste and buy these farm products directly from the producers at very affordable prices.
